Higher fines for overdue books from September 26th on in all the libraries.
It’s 0,50 euro per book per day.

Vanaf dit academiejaar is de discovery service Limo de centrale toegang tot de diverse collecties van de K.U.Leuven-bibliotheken. Je kan nu met één zoekactie nagaan welke verschillende bronnen beschikbaar zijn rond een bepaald thema.

Wat vind je in Limo? Boeken en tijdschriften die beschikbaar zijn in de bibliotheken, maar ook artikels en andere documenten uit belangrijke databanken en e-tijdschriftencollecties waar de instelling toegang toe heeft. Verder vind je er alle publicaties van de eigen onderzoekers van K.U.Leuven die opgenomen zijn in Lirias. Op termijn kan het huidige aanbod daarenboven worden uitgebreid met andere interessante bronnen, zoals belangrijke gedigitaliseerde collecties.

Enkele voordelen van Limo:

- gedrukte en elektronische publicaties via één centrale zoekinterface
- zoekresultaten standaard gerangschikt volgens relevantie
- eenvoudig je zoekopdracht verfijnen door middel van facets (filters)
- suggesties voor aanvullende literatuur via ‘Recommendations’

Uiteraard is er een uitgebreide helpfunctie aanwezig. Feedback over Limo kan je altijd geven via de knop “feedback”, rechts bovenaan op elke pagina.

De universiteitsbibliotheek van de K.U.Leuven is op dit moment de enige universiteitsbibliotheek in België die een dergelijke tool in huis heeft. Limo is de huisnaam voor PRIMO, een product van de Ex Libris-groep, een van de toonaangevende firma’s voor bibliotheeksoftware.

New search interface for all collections of K.U.Leuven libraries

From this academic year on, the discovery service Limo is the central access point to the collections of the K.U.Leuven libraries. You can now discover in a single search what sources are available on a certain topic.

What can you find in Limo ? Books and journals from the libraries, but also articles and other documents from important databases and e-journal collections that are available within the institution. It further contains all publications that are available in Lirias, the research repository of K.U.Leuven. The current content can later be extended with other interesting sources such as important digitized collections.

Some advantages of Limo:

- print and electronic publications via one search interface,
- search results by default ordered by relevance,
- search results easily refined by use of facets (filters),
- suggestions for further reading via “Recommendations”

Of course, an extended help function is available. Your feedback is always welcome, for this you can use the button “Feedback” on the top right corner of every screen.

At this moment, the university library of the K.U.Leuven is the only university library in Belgium that offers such a tool. Limo is based on the software PRIMO, a product of the Ex Libris Group, one of the important providers of library software.

Revised and uniform ILL-rates

Starting academic year 2011-2012 the University Library issues new rates for ILL-services. The pricing is simplified and from now on the same rates apply at all ILL-centrals of the library.

UniCat: new union catalogue of Belgian academic libraries

UniCat has recently been made available online. It is the union catalog of Belgian academic libraries, holding some 14 million records from the Royal Library of Belgium and a list of universities (among which the K.U.Leuven), schools for higher education, heritage institutions, museum libraries and other institutions and organizations. Also included are the catalogues of two library networks,  ANET and LIBISnet. Other libraries and library networks can join and are expected to do so once the UniCat service is in full production.

K.U.Leuven has access to Cairn.info, a full text database containing the recent issues of 280 French-language journals in full text, starting from 2001 up until now. For example: Archives de Philosophie, Les études philosophiques, Revue d’éthique et de théologie morale, Revue de métaphysique et de morale, Revue de philosophie économique, …

The K.U. Leuven has trial access to the e-books collection of Springer (books published between 2005-2010) until the end of December 2011. This e-books collection contains over 17,000 publications, also useful for Philosophy. The e-books can be consulted on the publisher’s website, SpringerLink. Full text-links are already available in the  LibriLinks menus. The books will also be retrievable in the  library calatogue and LIMO in the near future.

Achter de schermen is er de laatste maanden hard gewerkt aan LIMO. Vanaf vandaag is het resultaat beschikbaar in een bèta-versie. Via LIMO doorzoek je in één zoekactie diverse informatiebronnen van de digitale bibliotheek:

• LIBISnet-catalogus (integraal)
• LIRIAS (academische bibliografie – integraal)
• Primo Central: d.i. een centrale index van publicaties uit een aantal wetenschappelijke databanken en e-tijdschriftencollecties waar we gratis of via onze licenties toegang toe hebben (o.a. EBSCO – Academic Search Premier, Project Muse en gedeeltelijk ook JSTOR).  Een volledig overzicht van wat beschikbaar is in Primo Central, vind je op http://bib.kuleuven.be/ebronnen/primo/Inhoud_Primo_Central.pdf

Door deze integratie in LIMO is het mogelijk om gedrukte en elektronische publicaties in één gecombineerde resultatenlijst te presenteren. We streven ernaar om de inhoud van Primo Central zo snel mogelijk verder uit te breiden, maar dit is onder meer afhankelijk van de onderhandelingen met de betrokken uitgevers.

Een bèta-versie betekent dat het gaat om een product in volle ontwikkeling. Daarom kan je de knop ‘Feedback’ gebruiken die je op elke pagina bovenaan rechts aantreft.

De Van Dale woordenboeken zijn verhuisd en nu toegankelijk via het nieuw online Van Dale platform. Naast de dikke Van Dale vind je er ook de professionele vertaalwoordenboeken Nederlands, Engels, Frans, Duits (telkens twee richtingen) en bij de basisvertaalwoordenboeken ook nog eens de talen Spaans, Italiaans en Portugees.
